Scott Brady

Executive Publisher 

Scott Brady is an adventurer, author, and publisher, and the first person in history to cross all seven continents. Brady is Executive Publisher of the Overland Collective, home to Overland Journal, the Overland Journal Podcast, and expeditionportal.com - the world's largest vehicle-dependent adventure community. Scott wrote Overlanding 101 (Simon & Schuster) and is currently riding around the world on his BMW GS. He led Expeditions 7, the first in history (with Greg Miller) to drive the same vehicle on all seven continents. Brady’s polar crossings include Antarctica and a south-north crossing of the Greenland ice sheet. Stephanie Brady

Director of Design

“Just because you don’t know how to do something is not a reason not to do it.” Thisbecame Stephanie's motto after starting Overland Journal with Scott Brady. She designed the first magazine without any training, design experience, or having ever worked on a Mac or in the Adobe Creative Suite. Tenacious, hard-working, detail oriented and creative, she is a combination of the vision, strength, and fortitude that is the backbone of all we strive for at Overland International. She loves Range Rovers, contemporary architecture, Caramel Macchiatos, Apache helicopters, and her Alaskan malamute, Atlas. She enjoys travel and is as comfortable behind the wheel in a remote location as she is behind her iMac design station.

Tena Overacker

Editor in Chief

A steadfast believer in the power of words, Tena can usually be found with her eyes turned toward some source of written knowledge, be it for pleasure (seeking details on her next adventure), sustenance (recipe or menu), or just because. Recognizing the value of spoken word as well (unless it is coming from her GPS, in which case, she is perfectly capable of getting lost on her own), Tena finds there is no substitute for confabulation. Refuge from the monotony of the everyday is found by immersing herself in her surroundings, whether in an exotic locale or her own backyard. Disconnecting from technology is one of Tena’s favorite things, and seeking solace in the great outdoors is a cure well taken.

Brian McVickers

Director of Sales

A Chicago native, Brian has lived throughout the United States and Caribbean while traveling as much as possible. An accomplished racing and ocean sailor Brian is equally comfortable traversing large expanses of remote land in search of adventure. He has spent the last 25 years involved in the outdoor industry with magazines, newspapers, web, television, and ad agencies. As a sailor, Brian has crossed the Northwest passage and sailed across the Pacific Ocean on the Kailani Expedition.

Ashley Giordano recently completed a 48,800-kilometer overland journey from Vancouver, Canada, to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with her husband, Richard, in their well-loved but antiquated Toyota Pickup. On the zig-zag route south, she hiked craggy peaks in the Andes, discovered diverse cultures in 15 different countries, and indulged in spicy ceviche, Baja fish tacos, and Argentinian malbec. You can usually find Ashley buried in a pile of travel books, poring over maps, or researching wild medicinal plants. Ashley grew up in Kelowna, British Columbia, and spent much of her youth as a competitive figure skater. She worked as a paralegal for eight years while completing a diploma in holistic nutrition. She is currently studying herbal medicine with a focus on women’s health.

Graeme Bell

Graeme Bell is an author and explorer who has dedicated his life to traveling the planet by land, seeking enlightenment and unique experiences. Together with his wife and two children, Graeme has spent the last decade living permanently on the road in a self-built Land Rover-based camper. They have explored 27 African countries, circumnavigated South America, and driven from Argentina to Alaska, followed by an exploration of Europe and Western Asia. Currently, the family is planning a journey from Western Europe to the Russian Far East. Graeme is a member of the Explorers Club, the author of six critically acclaimed books, and an Overland Journal and Expedition Portal contributor since 2015.

Stephan Edwards is the associate editor of Expedition Portal and Overland Journal. He and his wife, Julie, once bought an old Land Rover sight unseen from strangers on the internet in a country they'd never been to and drove it through half of Africa. After living in Botswana for two years, Stephan now makes camp at the foot of a round mountain in Missoula, Montana. He still drives that Land Rover every day. An anthropologist in his former life and a lover of all things automotive, Stephan is a staunch advocate for public lands, and his writing and photography have appeared in Road & Track, Overland Journal, and Adventure Journal. @venturesomeoverland
