The Overland Journal Mountain Bike Team Takes on the Whiskey Off Road
More than 1,000 bike riders converged in downtown Prescott, Arizona competing in 15-mile, 25-mile, and 50-mile races.
The Overland Journal mountain bike team took to the singletrack once again, this time at the 7th annual Whisky Off Road mountain bike race.
A production of Epic Rides, the Whiskey Off Road is the premier mountain bike event in northern Arizona, challenging riders with one of the most difficult courses in the Southwest. More than 1,000 riders converged in downtown Prescott, Arizona, on April 24th, competing in 15-mile, 25-mile, and 50-mile races.
The high level of competition in this year's race, combined with perfect weather conditions, had course records falling in nearly every category. Rising to the challenge, the Overland Journal team managed to earn two podium spots, with Micki McKay finishing second in the 25-mile women's singlespeed division, and Katrina Lopeman also finishing second in the 25-mile women's open category. Steve Reynolds had an impressive ride in the 50-mile race, climbing nearly 7,000 feet on his singlespeed. Nathan Kroeker posted a solid time in the fiercely contested men's 25-mile singlespeed category, and Jeremy Edgar represented the team in the 15-mile event. The team's good showing was made possible with generous assistance from Overland Journal's support crew.
